Warby Parker, an optical brand company, is making their name as a lifestyle brand. Although mainly promoting and selling through an e-commerce platform, investors are seeing it as something more, and it even attracted J. Crew chief executive Micky Drexler to invest in their company.
When asked why he respects the company so much, one investor commented, “They treat clients like relationships. They’re very much oriented toward telling people about a lifestyle they want to associate with.”
A representative from Warby Parker talked about Drexler’s investment in the company: “He was excited about some of the exciting retail stuff we were doing” but “when it was time to raise money, we wanted to get him formally involved.” Drexler has been serving as Warby Parker’s unofficial mentor before the final decision to join the company.
This is no doubt a huge confidence boost for the e-commerce company, however; there are currently no plans to sell their products in J.Crew locations.
