The First Lady, Michelle Obama appeared at a campaign even in Cincinnati on Wednesday dressed in the new contemporary label ‘Miss Wu‘, the new label of Jason Wu that hasn’t been released yet.
Michelle Obama has been supporting Jason Wu since the Inaugural Ball in 2009, now she takes that support even further. She is the first person to wear something from the new label, ‘Miss Wu’, which doesn’t hit stores untill January 2013
There has been many more occasions where Obama wore Wu’s clothing, including on the cover of Vogue, “When I was fortunate enough to dress Mrs. Obama for her Inauguration, it was a special moment for me,” is what Wu told The Daily Beast backtstage at his September fashion show. “It exemplified what I moved to New York to do, which was to become a designer. And to have my work in the Smithsonian Museum — that I never dreamt of. I’m beyond thrilled that I’m a part of American history.”
It’s not usual that the First Lady wears something that isn’t in stores yet, but this season Michelle Obama has established herself as someone who supports young talent. On the recent Democratic National Convention, she wore a costum-made dress by the young Detroit-native Tracy Reese, paired with J.Crew heels.
The first collection for Miss Wu is inspired by the 1960’s, with A-line silhouettes, bright colors, and pop-art colors.
The label will retail at a lower price than Jason Wu’s label, and will go on sale at Nordstorm’s on January 7th.
