MYKITA collabs with Beth Ditto to create rockin’ new shades!

German eyewear brand MYKITA has recently launched a new product line collaborating with American rock star Beth Ditto. The lead singer of Gossip came up with the sunglasses design, and then MYKITA will be releasing them in two different shades.

Here is what the blog entry has to say: “Beth has a very unique individual spirit, strong personality and style, so we were very excited to work with her on a design level. We knew that together we could create a very special pair of sunglasses – and now we have: ‘Well, I have a huge head, so these glasses are enormous! And my favourite colour is purple! So I knew that even if no one else wore them, at least I’d have the shades of my dreams for the rest of my life,’ said Beth afterwards.

The frame is the result of a sketch prompted by the search for the perfect pair of sunglasses – drawn instinctively and spontaneously by Beth Ditto herself. Together we created this special cat-eye frame made of lightweight stainless steel, customized to fit her facial contours. The glasses incorporate Ditto’s own distinctive style; the cut-out style and the colour make the frame a statement. BETH comes in purple and white versions with violet gradient lenses, in a limited edition of 100 frames per colour. The frame will hit stores by mid-September .”
