In all my years of attending New York Fashion Week, today was extremely bizarre and random in terms of celebrity spottings. Bizarre because you usually see them socializing in the front row at runway shows, not out in the open. My weird celebrity-filled day started out at Carlos Miele. While waiting in line, Karlie Kloss passed by for an event in the tents. Then, I witnessed Vanessa Williams check in through the non-celebrity media area to get into the Carlos Miele show like a normal person. This is weird because there’s usually a ‘back door entrance’ for celebrities to enter shows.

There was a more than usual amount of celebrities at Carlos Miele. From what I can remember from the previous two shows, the front row was filled with editors and buyers. This season, Paula Abdul, Kelly Bensimon, Vanessa Williams and randomly Erin Wasson was in attendance.

After the show was over, I walked up Broadway to grab lunch. After lunch, I decided to go to an event at the rooftop of the Empire Hotel. While walking down Broadway, I passed by Fiorelli’s and Alec Baldwin was having an al fresco lunch. After the event, I decided to head into Starbucks next door to fight the post-lunch slump. I saw a woman come out of an Escalade and step out onto the sidewalk. At first glance I thought, “Hmm, she looks like Olivia Palermo.” After I had completed that thought in my head, two PR people came out in front of me and she introduced herself as Olivia. I managed to get a crappy cell phone shot of her backside (see photo above) — check out that Valentino clutch!

At Starbucks, the line was moderately short — probably only 6 people a head of me. For this Starbucks during fashion week, this is a short line! While almost at the cashier, the line had grown considerably long. Like a normal person, Chris Rock got in line. I took photos, but I was most likely being super conspicuous. I say this because look, here’s is, “I-Caught-You-Taking-Photos-Of-Me” face:

I’m thankful that I was way ahead in line to avoid any awkwardness with him while waiting at the pick-up area for my latte.

So, I step out of Starbucks to get back to the tents at Lincoln Center and Kimora Lee Simmons decides to pop out of the Empire Hotel:

Then, for whatever reason she goes back inside and Kelly Bensimon is talking to her briefly…for like two seconds. Then she walks back outside and that’s when I took the photo above. Seeing her basically made my life!

My day doesn’t end there. I went to the Angel Sanchez presentation, not really expecting any celebrities to attend because Angel Sanchez is a smaller designer. While taking photos of models at the presentation, Zombie Boy (aka Rick Genest aka the skeleton guy in Lady Gaga’s Born This Way music video) decided to show up. Photos coming later, I promise.

What’s funny about today and this week is that my schedule isn’t packed with big name shows this season, yet I’m seeing a lot of random celebrities. In previous seasons where I’ve attended bigger name designers, I’d only see a lot of ‘housewives’ and reality TV stars. After today, I learned one thing about myself: I do get starstruck!

Fashion week isn’t over just yet, stay tuned for more of my adventures and coverage!
