English tailoring company Norton & Townsend has designed a 200-piece collection of grey suits inspired by the fictional book, “Fifty Shades of Grey.” And the decision to create a line of suits was actually influenced by the ladies.
Women were so smitten with the book’s main character Christian Grey, that since its publication, Norton & Townsend has seen a 30 percent increase in inquiries by ladies. Managing director Austen Pickles explains:
A bespoke suit means you can choose everything – you can even have a quote from the book running through the lining! In many ways having a woman at the fitting is like Pretty Woman in reverse – she often encourages him to be braver with his choices and add those flashes of individuality. A suit is a great look for a man and a huge confidence-builder.
Thanks to Fifty Shades of Grey we could see workplaces smarten up – and office romances blossom. Grey is certainly making a comeback as the choice for suits, especially as there are some brave checks and bold pinstripes out there. It’s far from the bland colour it was once considered to be and many customers are adding their own personal twist.
And before you say, “Oh, grey is just grey,” the line boasts a colorful array of stormy hues, including Gregarious Grey, Glamorous Grey, Grown-up Grey, Generous Grey, Guilty Pleasure Grey, and Gentle Grey.
And you thought the Fifty Shades of Grey mania was over. Would you want your man to dress like Christian Grey?
