A little while back, it was announced that Christian Louboutin was planning a pair of Cinderella-inspired glass slippers to coincide with the release of the Disney classic on Blue-Ray.
When in Paris on July 4, Louboutin unveiled the shoe and… it looks like something only a Dinsey princess would love:
For practical reasons, the shoes aren’t actually made of glass. Rather, they were “inspired” by what a modern-day Cinderella would wear. To “evoke lightness” (but not subtlety) Louboutin made the 120-millimeter heels out of white lace and Swarovski crystals. Then he added some butterflies because butterflies are “feminine.” Does anyone else think of Mariah Carey as the modern-day Cinderella because of the butterflies?
He also had a little bit of PR gushing to do:
Cinderella is not only an iconic character when it comes to beauty, grace and fairytale love, but also shoes. Her character and her story dictated the design to me, it was all there in the pages and the words of this tale.
So, there you have it. To me, Louboutin’s Cinderella-inspired heels look more like the grown-up version of little girls play heels. But, what do you think?
