Nicole Richie advocates headpieces for everyone!

Designer and Fashion Star mentor/judge Nicole Richie is one of the first fashionistas that I think of when seeing a headpiece. Rocking them for the longest time, she definitely knows what a good headpiece when she sees one. In fact, she considers them as the best accessory that anyone can wear as well.

InStyle caught up with Richie at a recent New York City Fashion Star bash hosted by H&M, where she divulged the inside scoop on her favorite accessory. “I think that everybody should wear headpieces! If you’re spending a ton of money on shoes, then you should put just as much effort into dressing up your head.”

The Fashion Star mentor has already made elaborate hair jewelry one of her judge’s table staples, working them in every style, from coin-embellished chains to delicate jeweled designs from her House of Harlow 1960 line.

Her styling tip with how to approach this eye-catching piece? “Pick the outfit first, then the headpiece.”

I definitely think that the headpiece is on its way up to being the next big thing in fashion for the summer. And considering what a trendsetter Richie is, it won’t be long before you’ll see the headpiece everywhere.
