It’s so easy to buy a counterfeit Coach bag, Prada bag, or Gucci bag. They’re just everywhere and people resort to them because some just don’t want to fork over $300 for a clutch. As a response to these fake items, more than 75 designers have come together for the campaign known as “You Can’t Fake Fashion.”
This is a joint campaign between the Council of Fashion Designers of America and eBay, who have created a line of tote bags. They will only be available on eBay starting on March 20, each tote having a price tag of $200. For those that are a little money sensitive, there are also four different styles of canvas totes that are $45.
Tracy Reese, like all other designers, are against the counterfeiting act in the fashion world, and urge people to fight it. She says, “We’ve had prints copied,” she said. “We’ve had styles copied. We’ve had, you know, entire everything - color, embroidery, style - hit billboards in Times Square, and you know we’ve spent a lot of time and money in development and we’re not a big company, and we need to get the benefit of our work before it goes to the broad, mainstream public for $29.99.”
Hopefully, this campaign will help stop all the counterfeiting going on. Designers pour out all their efforts and thoughts into making a new bag or purse, it’s only right to support them!
