Crowds and crowds of people attended Wes Gordon’s Fall 2012 presentation at Pier 59 during fashion week to be met with what people are saying is his biggest collection yet. And rightly so, seeing that he recently scored a Fashion Group International’s Rising Star Award win. Somehow, attending this presentation was my first introduction to the work of Wes Gordon who by the way, is only 25. I am both lucky that I was able to cover this in person and kicking myself in the butt for only hearing about Wes Gordon recently. After such a successful presentation, one can only expect big things for Wes Gordon. Enough of my gushing and onto the actual collection.
Gordon cites Rooney Mara and Charles Dickens’ heroines as inspirations for his Fall 2012 collection. Chain mail details seen in a tank top and shoes, bold shoulders, gold brocade leopard prints suggest a Rooney Mara edge. Chiffon scarves were crossed and tucked into into belt loops — or maybe loops in the top? I couldn’t tell, but I know for sure but I am so determined to pull this look off:
The fabrics used in the collection were very luxe — think cashmere, saffron, duchesse satin and fox fur. One particular top had fox fur sewed into it, giving the illusion of it being separate from the top. Skills man, skills:

Overall a gorgeous collection! I am so excited to see what’s to come for Wes Gordon!
