She may be over 60, nothing stops Vera Wang, who has over 30 years experience behind her. At her Fall 2012 fashion show which took place at The Stage at Lincoln Center on Valentine’s Day, a range of stars appeared such as actresses Leighton Meester, Renee Zellweger, Natalie Portman, Viola Davis and tennis player Maria Sharapova along with Vogue’s Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour.
Wang has used influence from Gothic cathedrals to create her designs for the next fall/winter. She said, “We always like tension. I like a boyishness next to something sensual. I like transparency next to something strict. I like the mix. It’s that tension that makes it fashion for me.”
With raccoon necks, flare pants, light wool coats/jackets and dark tops, Wang creates a solid ready-to-wear line perfect to stay warm at winter. What did not look so warm was the transparent sheer looking dresses no matter whether they were made of chiffon or lace. Indeed, the full body dresses seemed to be a big highlight of the show:
The collection showed pieces from extreme ends of the color scheme - bright reds with deep dark blacks with a throw in of blue and for good measure. As a whole, the line leans towards a dark side but is still very feminine.
