Following the release of Doo.Ri’s Macy’s collection, I was quite eager to see what the Fall 2012 season would bring. Luckily, I was able to attend the the Doo.Ri runway show recently at the Eyebeam Studios in Chelsea. Fall 2012 for Doo.Ri presents more of what she does best — graceful, slouchy silhouettes and perfectly executed drapery. Inspiration for this collection comes from the Japanese art of Butoh and its elegant, yet haunting movement.
Chills were certainly sent down spines as the models slinked over the runway wearing beautiful chunky sweaters that wrapped across the body in unexpected ways. Dresses were either jersey or silk and slouchy to show off sensual movement. Laser-cut tops and dresses were also very eyecatching and modern. The palette consisted of some traditionally fall colors like brass, gray, burguny and navy and some unique colors for the season like lime and pale pink. Pants were wide-legged and wool. We also see an interesting twist-knot turtleneck. I’m not the biggest fan of turtlenecks but the twisted knot makes it less boring to me!
Overall I found the collection to be very modern, sophisticated and elegant!
Here are some photos I managed to take:
