It is a known fact that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have a sister named Elizabeth and even a brother named James, who prefers being called Trent. However, the twins’ brand “Elizabeth and James” actually isn’t paying any homage to their siblings!
“We wanted it to be based on a relationship between a young girl and a boy and tell the story through clothing,” Mary-Kate told WWD when their contemporary collection was launched. “It’s a clash between masculinity and femininity,” Ashley included.
Brand representatives also confirmed to PEOPLE that the line isn’t named after anybody in particular.
Little sister Elizabeth, unfortunately, has other things planned. “In my mind, that was, ‘Oh cool, that means I get free clothes,’” she explained to ASOS magazine, as she thought she has influenced the line. “For two years, I didn’t [have to] buy anything.”
What a strange … coincidence!
