The Dolce & Gabbana store that caused quite a controversy in Hong Kong for not allowing a Hong Kong native to take pictures of the outside of their store in fear that they would capture a photo of a wealthy government official from Mainland China spending big bucks in their store is now denying any racist actions towards the Hong Kong people.

Although they continue to deny the racist actions, that doesn’t stop the thousands of angry residents from protesting outside of their store and continuing to bring down their brand name. Even though is quite a small action of a mistreatment of a Hong Kong native, it has stirred emotions in a lot of others because of the fact that it is foreigners and people from Mainland China that run their economy and not them.

Here is the full response from the Italian brand:

Referring to media reports regarding the incident, Dolce & Gabbana said that “controversial statements reported in the Hong Kong press have not been made by Dolce & Gabbana nor its staff, and we strongly reject any racist or derogatory comments. It is regrettable that Dolce & Gabbana has been brought into this matter, but we wish to underline that our company has not taken part in any action aimed at offending the Hong Kong public.”

It is sort of sad that Dolce & Gabbana has to be caught up in this but I do understand why the Hong Kong people would want to protest against them as they already feel like they are inferior to those that live outside of Hong Kong in terms of wealth. I wonder how long this protest will last.
