Designers, namely Anna Wintour, have been showing their support towards Barack Obama‘s reelection campaign by holding numerous fundraisers for the president. The latest project, called Runway to Win, is the sequel to 2008′s Runway to Change and features a total of 22 different designers such as Marc Jacobs, Diane von Furstenberg, Alexander Wang, Jason Wu, and Rachel Roy. The designers have come up with items to help benefit the Obama Victory Fund like Obama-branded tees, and bags.
LVMH reportedly did not want their brands to participate in fear of losing Republican customers. However, it looks like Marc Jacobs did not follow LVMH’s wishes due to being pressured by Vogue and Wintour. On the other hand, LVMH’s Donna Karan did not participate, even though it was part of Runway to Change.
Interestingly, fashion brands have contributed almost twice as much money to Obama’s campaign compared to John McCain’s campaign in the 2008 presidential election.
