PETA, a group that fights for the right of animals, is upset (to say the least) with Dr. Dre and his new partner Oscar de la Renta over a new pair of limited edition headphones. But, here’s the catch: it contains a large amount of real fox fur.
The “Beats by Dre” headphones are now known for delivering a “rich, full sound from a portable and stylish unit.” However, it comes with a price that an innocent fox had to pay for. That’s right, the headphones are covered in luxe silver fox fur, and PETA is beyond angry.
Dr. Dr received a letter from Global Grind’s organization official, Michelle Cho, which urged the musician to “keep fur and exotic-animal skins out of Beats by Dre designs.” She continued, “With so many fashionable, cruelty-free materials available these days, we hope that you will keep animals in mind and choose not to use fur or exotic skins in your collection.”
In her final plea, she ended, “You have a tremendous amount of influence on young people – won’t you please consider using your platform to advocate kindness toward animals?”
Dre is yet to respond to the letter, but I am definitely taking PETA’s side on this one. When an innocent creature is killed for us to wear over our ears, it shouldn’t be taken lightly, especially considering how the animals are slaughtered.
