With Chanel, you usually expect to see very elegant and chic designs that shock but in a pretty and good way, right? Well it seems as though they’ve started to expand on their body art love (last year it was the temporary tattoo, which actually wasn’t that bad). This year, they seem to have wanted to step it up a notch and have introduced the idea of…pearl piercings.
While the idea sounds sort of cool, if you take a look at how they were shown off on the runway models in Chanel’s Spring 2012 collection, they almost look like…pearl warts instead. Umm…yeah, I think the prettiness impression has been shattered a bit.
Though paired with the wet and slicked back hair and clean makeup of the models, it works to enhance the mermaid-like look they were going for. But on that first look, I was a bit creeped out to see them…since I thought they were…warts (though shiny and a lovely shade of ivory but…).
Maybe if it was only a couple and not sprinkled around so much, it might work but I don’t think this is a trend I’ll be participating in if it’s anywhere but as an earring.
Thoughts?
