Jad Ghandour Spring 2012 Collection: Futuristic Safari

While the safari theme isn’t anything new for the Spring/Summer season, Jad Ghandour put an interesting twist on safari for his Spring 2012 Collection by making it futuristic with its bronze and gold palette, shiny fabrics and baby lion and tiger. I don’t mean fur, either. I mean there was a baby lion and a baby tiger on the runway in cages! If you don’t count the random ballerina or orchesta ensemble performance, a live baby lion and tiger has got to be the most theatrical I’ve ever seen a fashion show get in all my experience attending New York Fashion Week.

Possibly to the horror of PETA, I have to say that the baby lion and tiger were a nice touch to the Jad Ghandour Spring 2012 Collection. I saw the baby lion and tigers as symbols of fierceness that compliment the already-fierce looks on the Jad Ghandour runway. The fiercest looks of them all would’ve had to have been a gold lame pantsuit that would’ve satisfied the likes of Michael Jackson. Aside from this look, there were a lot of Amazon-woman flowy gowns and dresses showing a right amount of skin. Futurism comes into play with the interesting cutouts and exoskeleton-like quality some of the dresses had.

The Jad Ghandour Spring 2012 Collection is definitely for women who are bold with their fashion, who like to take risks because they know they’ll always look fabulous.
