The inspiration behind Farah Angsana’s Spring 2012 Collection is “Oriental Enchantment.” While I’m not a fan of the use of the word ‘oriental’ unless applied to rugs, I’m going to go ahead and call it Eastern Enchantment. To take this Eastern Enchantment further, the collection is said to have been inspired by Japanese cherry blossoms. As gorgeous as the clothes most of the collection was, I had a hard time tying the theme to the actual collection. The palette of the collection consisted of purples, pinks, reds, whites, caramels and blues. When I think of cherry blossoms, caramel or blue are hardly colors that come across my mind.

The only way I can place Angsana’s theme with her Spring 2012 collection is that I found the beauty of the gowns and dresses to be quite delicate, like cherry blossoms. It helped that there was a constant breeze at the presentation, billowing the garments and giving models an ethereal look. The use of feathers, jewels and ruffles in the dresses looked quite exquisite, so much so that you didn’t want to touch them. It’s that same feeling of not wanting to accidentally step on a cherry blossom if it’s fallen.
