Every good New York Fashion Week should consist of a good Carlos Miele. (See what I did there?) Joking aside, Carlos Miele’s Spring 2012 was a breathtakingly beautiful collection of slinky, flowy skirts, dresses and gowns. The show opened with four bright caftans bearing marble prints in blue, green and aqua and orange — a huge khoi fish. The looks following the opening pieces presented gowns that resembled mermaid shapes and more of the marble prints that looked more like water than actual marble given the aquas, greens and blues in the collection’s palette.
The looks then progressed out of the ocean into sexy jumpsuits, separates and dresses accented with super shiny gold. The models looked like gold discoballs on legs. If I could describe Carlos Miele’s version of paradise based on his Spring 2012 collection alone, I’m pretty sure paradise is one big fun Atlantis disco. Each look a viable contender for red carpets to come in the Spring.
