Timo Weiland’s Spring 2012 show marked a very special occasion for the designer duo. The showing of their Spring 2012 collection was their debut runway show. Having attended their very first presentation a few years back, I was filled with nothing but joy. They grow up so fast, no?
For a debut runway show, it’s extra crucial to send looks that showcase movement down the runway. Movement was perfectly executed in the collection’s frocks ranging in short to maxi lengths. Dresses were mostly of A-line, empire and waterfall silhouettes. Being lucky enough to somehow receive a front row seat that evening, the swoosh-swoosh sounds were ever so delightful.
Aside from movement, digital prints both floral or Southwestern ruled the Timo Weiland runway. And not just the ladies — the men saw blue floral printed button-up shirts and shorts. Who doesn’t love a man rocking floral prints? These prints, fell within a palette that included muted neutral colors, bright fuschia, tangerine orange, aqua and green. Timo Weiland’s Spring 2012 collection is one of the best representations of the both trends I’ve seen all week.
Since we mustn’t skip accessories, I have to say that the colorful flower necklaces used looked like modern, non-tacky leis. If you flew into Hawaii and Hawaiian girls were greeting you with Timo Weiland necklaces instead of hibicus leis, I’d be wishing to go to Hawaii often! Speaking of Hawaii, the cropped top and skirt combo reminded me a lot of hula dancers in their traditional garb. Only more colors and super hot platform shoes:
