Cynthia Rowley put the Midas touch on her Spring 2012 collection. Not only was it present in a lot of her collections, the actual runway was a mirrored gold protected by security prior to the show. For people sitting front row, that meant no cross runway fashion-kisses. (Two kisses is how fashion people greet each other, I learned.) Of all the shows I’ve attended this week, Cynthia Rowley’s show saw the most celebrities: Lindsay Lohan, Alexa Chung, Nigel Barker, Lisa Edelstein (Dr. Cuddy on House!), Kelly Rutherford, Lourdes (Madonna’s daughter) and HGTV’s Vern Yip (I…sat in front of him and I had no idea that he was Vern Yip at the time.)
My starstruckedness aside, Cynthia Rowley’s Spring 2012 collection included a lot of gold along with leather mesh tops and silk A-line dresses that featured what Rowley calls, “floral flashmobs.” These floral flashmobs reminded me of the floral prints of a Chinese cheongsam dress but on crack. Crack, in a good way. And probably the only way that crack is good. Whats a floral flashmob to others, is floral crack to me.
If Cynthia Rowley’s Spring 2012 collection is a sign of an upcoming gold, floral crack trend…call me an addict! I may require an intervention next Spring.
Here are some photos I managed to take at the show (including creepy pics I took of Lisa Edelstein and Madonna’s daughter Lourdes who was sitting across from me):
