After piquing my interest in finding shoe clones, I set out to look for an affordable alternative to my latest shoe lust, the Jeffrey Campbell Lita.
These shoes have been extremely popular in the past year, mainly being claimed as the “it” shoe of this past fall/winter season, coming in an astounding array of colors, patterns, and finishes such as suede, ostrich leather, glitter, pony hair, etc. So I thought finding a clone of such a popular shoe style would be easy but I was quite surprised that I had difficulty in doing so.
I eventually found these booties pictured above, and while they do in fact look similar at first glance the silhouette isn’t quite right. The toe appears more pointed, the platform appears smaller, and the heel curves inward slightly. So I continue to search…
Bingo! about a week after finding the glitter pair, these suede booties showed up on the same website. I put them up side by side to the originals in photoshop and they are a darn good match! So far I’ve only found 3 minor differences — it’s missing the little gold grommets where the laces go through, the heel appears to be more of a plastic texture vs. the originals are wooden, and all the styles are man made materials. Of course the main difference I found is in the price, Originals go for around $160~ while these are about a quarter of the price! between $38.55 - $41.55 depending on whether its suede, leatherette, or leopard print.
Now the question is:
Should I give these a try? or should I save up for the real thing?
