Searching for a fashion forward iPad case within a reasonable budget can prove itself a difficult task. While Targus’ Z-Case Leather Portfolio isn’t quite the $230 Gucci iPad case, it’s still a fashion forward choice at a reasonable price of $54.99. One of the best points about the Z-case is that it’s simplistic in design and could pass for a sleek clutch bag. If I didn’t know it was an iPad case, I would’ve easily mistaken it for a clutch bag.
What’s also great about the Z-Case is the soft, scratch-resistant interior. In trying out the case, I also might’ve discovered a new feature that Targus isn’t aware of yet: smudge removal. Prior to inserting my iPad into this case for the first time, my iPad screen was nothing but smudges. (It gets a lot of use out of me, what can I say.) After removing my iPad from the case, I was surprised to find that the smudges diminished slightly. I’m not saying ditch your iPad display cleaning habits entirely, but you will notice a difference in the amount of smudges on your iPad.
While all of this is great, I did run into one problem with the Z-Case. It won’t accommodate your iPad if you’ve got a rubber case housing the edges of your iPad. I had to remove my black rubber case in order to fit the iPad into the Z-Case. If I were to make any improvements to the Z-Case, all I’d do is make it a tad bit bigger just to accommodate protective rubber casing. If you’ve got a protective skin on your iPad, this won’t be an issue for you.
Aside from the rubber casing issue, I’d recommend the Targus Z-Case to iPad owners looking for a more fashionable alternative in iPad cases that won’t break the bank.
