Funktional gets its name from designer Jennifer Park’s famous catch phrase: “I can’t function!” But obviously she had a lot of gears turning in this collection, as I am honestly falling in love with the symmetrical cut-outs. She uses a neutral palette of blacks and whites, which is working wonders for me (I’ve been seeing too much pastel and denim lately) and creates an overall messy on purpose look that I adore.
Here’s a couple of Funktional outfits that stood out the most for me:
This pattern is pure love and timelessly classic. I’m spazzing over the dress on the right because I can see it being used in so many ways, in all kinds of weather.
I love off the shoulder tops, and what’s interesting about the one on the right is that the bottom is skin-clinging, reducing that big belly look many off-the-shoulder floofy shirts give you. And the outfit on the left? I can so see myself going to class like that.
This shirt has an interesting twist. From the front it looks like your average conservative, casual tee. But BAM! Turn around and you have this back-cut that puts Flo Rida’s Low to shame. Too revealing? Wear a bright tee underneath.
And the best part of Funktional pieces is that they’re (somewhat) affordable. Albeit too high for my nonexistent budget, most pieces are in the $50-$200 range when not on sale, which in my book, is a good deal.
