Ever wonder what people wore for shoes 5,500 years ago? OK, so I hadn’t thought too much about it until I saw this news story about a shoe from that time that was discovered in the mountains of Armenia recently. Take a look at this thing!

It’s made from one piece of cowhide leather and it laces up the front and the back. After scientists did testing on the materials, they realized that it is the oldest leather shoe that has been discovered to date. Amazingly, it doesn’t look all that different from our modern day shoes! By current sizing standards, it measures to be around a women’s size 7, but scientists think it could have belonged to a man because people were generally smaller in those days. Pretty cool, isn’t it?
