I recently read a very interesting post that’s been circulating about fashion bloggers and credit card debt. Fashion bloggers who post outfit pictures on their sites often feel pressure to constantly have new things to show, and some put themselves into debt in order to do it.
The author of the post, Ashe Mischief, shares her personal struggle with credit card debt and the connection of her shopping habits to her blogging ability. She also interviewed other fashion bloggers who admitted to having difficulty managing finances. Her solution is simple but sometimes harder than it sounds: if you can’t afford something NOW, don’t put it on a credit card to pay off later.
As someone who loves shopping and fashion, I can relate to how difficult it is not to buy everything I want to add to my wardrobe! In order to have more “fun money” to spend on the things I want, I try to really limit my spending on little things that add up, like coffee from Starbucks or buying lunch instead of making it at home. I still can’t afford to shop designer all the time, but at least I know that my extra money isn’t being spent wastefully. How do you budget and save for the fashion items that you want?
