Over the past few years, designer t-shirts have become an “it” item that every fashionista is supposed to own. Designers like Alexander Wang have their own iconic styles of t-shirt, and they come with an iconic price too — you can pay over $80 for one of his cotton creations. Is it worth it?

While designer t-shirts are cheaper than most other designer items, $80 for a cotton t-shirt seems a bit steep. Just because it has a designer label on it doesn’t make it immune to stains and wear that every other cotton tee has.

On the other hand, I’ve struggled to find t-shirts that fit quite as well as some of the designer ones do. They are definitely well-thought out from a design perspective, and the way that Alex Wang’s t-shirts drape is really unparalleled by any other generic brand. Some more mainstream stores are slowly picking up on this, but I haven’t seen a reasonably priced tee that I liked as much yet.

So how much would you be willing to spend on a t-shirt? Would you go designer for the sake of fashion, or stick with H&M for the sake of your budget?

I would fork out the money for an Alexander Wang shirt lol
They are so basic but are really really nice

I gotta admit something:  I just spent $45 on a thinning, shredded plain tank top from Supadupa Vintage. XD

the most i’ve ever paid for a plain t-shirt is $1.99 XD i’m cheap, but those cheap tees fit me well XD

I’d stick with H&M;or American Apparel. I hear the ‘sexualitee’ shirt is similar to Wang’s design.
