Lingerie-style looks were all over the runway for spring, but in reality how many of us are going to step out of the house in the morning in a sexy little slip dress? I’ve even seen a few fashion sources recommend that you let a little bra show under a button down shirt to achieve the look, but I feel like you might be seen as something less desirable than “stylish.” Instead of taking your look straight from the boudoir to the street, try incorporating an element of lingerie into your wardrobe: silk.

Baby Steps

If you are unsure about the lingerie look, you can always start with something simple like a silk cami under a cardigan or blazer. You can keep it easy with a plain cami, or vamp it up a little by finding one that has lace trim. I like this color-blocked one from Banana Republic.

Getting Hotter

I really love the look of a silk jacket over a simple top. It is such a sophisticated look, and the best part is that you can dress it up for work, or dress it down with jeans. I’d choose this ruffled jacket from Quotation!

Not for the Faint of Heart!

Last summer, I ordered a great pair of dark navy silk shorts online, which tragically got lost in the mail. Devastating! This year, I’m determined to get the look right! You should look for a good-quality silk, as well as a more tailored short. If not, you run the risk of looking you are wearing gym shorts! Leave it to Diane von Furstenberg to be able to whip up something so classy! Pair them with a pretty blouse and wedge heels for an easy summer look that can go from day to night.
