Lady Gaga is currently in Tokyo continuing her tour, and she was photographed with an interesting bag at the airport: a pristine white Birkin bag with a Japanese message written in Sharpie marker. Holy cow.
Birkin bags sell for thousands of dollars (depending on the bag, sometimes tens of thousands), so the idea that she drew on it is somewhat mind-boggling. Maybe they just give Birkins to Gaga and she has a whole room full of them at home. Who knows? I would venture to guess that she didn’t write this herself… that Katakana looks pretty well-practiced to me.
At any rate, the message is actually very sweet. It reads: “I love small monster. Tokyo love,” referring to the name that she calls her fans by: “little monsters.” The writing on her arm is nearly identical, but says “I love little monster.” Not sure why whoever wrote this decided to go with “small monster” on the bag, but I’m sure her fans get the message and love her all the more for altering her bag for them!
