Tank Tops and Bra Straps: Friend or Foe?

I’ve seen lots of girls over the past few days breaking out the warm-weather clothing and slipping into sundresses and sandals rather than jeans and Uggs. There are quite a few ladies already donning tank tops, and thus revisiting the year-after-year conundrum: is it OK to let your bra straps show under a spaghetti strap tank?

As a kid growing up in the 90s and early 2000s, I witnessed the intentionally-showing-underwear trend firsthand, and I must say that I’m a bit scarred by it. For those who don’t remember this unfortunate part of American fashion history, there were a few years there when girls made it a point to let their thongs show above their jeans and some companies (ahem, Victoria’s Secret) started manufacturing “trendy” interchangeable bra straps that were meant to be seen.

If you can’t tell already, I’m not a big fan of the “double strap” look with a tank top, but I see it a lot so it must be somewhat socially acceptable? What are your thoughts on this look? Are you OK with letting your bra straps show, or do you prefer to keep them hidden?
