It’s no secret that I love fashion, but sometimes getting the pieces I want is really expensive! I try to be smart with my budget, so sometimes there is just no way that I can afford a new pair of shoes at retail price. On occasion, I’ve used eBay to grab some pieces that I really wanted for much cheaper than retail, but there are definitely some things you’ll want to think about before placing your bid.
DO
– Check other sources first. Look for coupons for authorized online retailers so that you might be able to buy your stuff at a lower price without the risk of eBay.
– Try the item on in a store before you buy on eBay. Ordering online is always a risk as far as fit and quality go, but with eBay there are usually no returns. It’s best to make sure that you really like it before you make a big purchase!
– Look into authenticity before you purchase. There are a lot of sellers on eBay who sell counterfeit designer goods. Try to purchase only through authorized sellers.
DON’T
– Get caught up in the moment. Part of the genius of eBay is the element of competition, and it is too easy to spend more than you intend to just so that you win. Set a limit and stick to it!
– Purchase a used item without seeing pictures of the actual item first. Many sellers will just use the stock image when they post a used item, but you could be in for an ugly surprise when it arrives. Just because someone claims that they only wore a pair of shoes twice doesn’t mean that they didn’t absolutely trash them in the process!
– Be afraid to contact a seller with questions before you bid or buy. If there is any discrepancy with pricing or shipping, it is always worth it to talk to the seller first.
