Ever since Chanel put clogs on the feet of models in the Spring 2010 show, it seems that the fashion world has been in a heated debate over the fate of this shoe. Some say that it is here to stay for the spring, while others argue that it’s just plain ugly, even if studded with the infamous double-C’s. A few weeks ago on Gossip Girl, Blair Waldorf defined the clog as “An ugly wooden shoe that tried to make a statement and then disappeared.” Ouch!

Personally, I’m not crazy about the look. I think that the models at Chanel looked absolutely darling, but I fear that this trend is one of those that is so close to the edge of being matronly that it would be too easy to cross the line.

If you want to attempt this look, please just be careful to choose a clog with cute detailing! You could try this style from Jeffrey Campbell, which has the same stud detail that the Chanel shoes do.
