UPDATE: Carine Roitfeld vs. Balmain

Fashionista posted an update to the news about Balmain blacklisting French Vogue this season, and it involves some shady business! This could all just be gossip that is circulating during Paris Fashion Week, and I sincerely hope that it is.

The rumor is that while Carine had been doing some consulting for the Italian brand Max Mara, she sent them a Balmain coat that they copied. Balmain is very careful with their samples, and won’t send them out to just anyone, but they sent some samples to Carine for French Vogue. Allegedly, one of the Balmain coats somehow made its way to the people at Max Mara where it was copied and then sent back.

It’s sad to think that Carine may have done this — these designers work hard to create beautiful collections for us, and nobody wants their work to be copied and essentially stolen. I’d be majorly disappointed in Carine if this turns out to be true.
