Vogue Releases An iPhone App

Vogue released their first app for the iPhone called Vogue Stylist last week, and I have to say that I’m actually pretty impressed! I expected it to be sort of basic since the folks over at Conde Nast aren’t known for being the most tech savvy ever, but I was pleasantly surprised.

The app is a heavy collaboration with Vogue’s advertisers, as one of the big functions of the app lets you shop the advertisements you see in the pages of the March issue. This is actually a pretty cool feature since it links you right to the purchase page. Some of the retailers provided special content as well, for example you can watch a behind-the-scenes video of Dree Hemingway’s photo shoot for Valentino.

Another added bonus is coupons — take a look at the Nine West ad page for a 20% off coupon on the items featured! I actually really want one of the bags, so this coupon is tempting me big time!

The ‘Stylist’ feature of the app is good too… you can get fancy with it and use it to upload and categorize photos of your wardrobe, which I’ll probably never take the time to do. It also provides you with suggestions for on-trend pieces that you could add to your wardrobe.

Overall, I’d say this app is worth downloading because it is free and you’ll find it entertaining. Note that it can only be used when you are connected to the internet, so iPod Touch users will have to be connected to WiFi in order to use it!
