The spring 2010 haute couture Paris fashion week is in full swing and that means one thing and one thing alone — more haute couture works of art for us to die over. Die, as in the Rachel Zoe kind of death. For those not familiar with haute couture and how it’s different from ready-to-wear fashion, just know that haute couture fashion is more elaborate in process and materials and super custom-fitted. Meaning, you can’t just waltz into a fashion house and grab an haute couture piece off the rack. Your dress has to be fitted and it has to fit you perfectly. I mean, with the kind of money you’d be forking over — why not? Haute couture is only worn by a small, micro-sized group of people in this world. On a recent trip to Italy, I found the perfect pair of black suede fold-over booties. It was love at first sight, and double love at first touch — they were made from the softest suede I’ve ever felt in my life. Unfortunately because of financial differences, our relationship didn’t work out, but I’ll never forget the pitter-patter of my heart when I saw them.

I am not going to lie, I have a TOTAL girl-boner for Alexa Chung. It’s so bad, I’d switch teams for her. Luckily, despite the cancellation of MTV’s “It’s On with Alexa Chung,” she once again proves to us that there is life after MTV. Of course the first piece of proof is the fact that she recently topped the list of Vogue’s Most Stylish People. The second piece of proof is that she’s the new face of Pepe Jeans alongside sexy male models Tom Guinness and Boyd Holbrook. Even though MTV turned off “It’s On with Alexa Chung,” Alexa Chung proves that there’s life beyond a canceled MTV show. Alexa recently beat out Sarah Jessica Parker and model Kate Moss to top Vogue’s list of the most stylish people of 2009. Admittedly, Alexa Chung is at the top of my list and is also one of my own personal style icons. Her topping the Vogue list is like me topping the list. Kind of. More »
